Acquiesce to the Path
When society tried to stop whining for a New York minute
Remember early in the year 2020? Everyone ached to connect, pined for the real deal, and we all had zoom fatigue. We all thought we’d step into more video conferencing only over our dead bodies. 🖥️Then something happened. We acquiesced to virtual meetings and summits.First we tolerated it and then we resigned to it. Pretty soon, where we didn’t think we could experience another virtual person and get a real feel for them, suddenly we found we could. Now many of us have best friends long-distance via video and have lasting business relationships that are friendly and real. In fact, for many of us, doors have been opened that may never have been accessed if it weren’t for our freely-given time in video conferencing.
It took a whole new honing of our listening, our observing, our sensing, and our authenticity radars. We really came a long way to adjust to all that.
Think of something in your life that really bums you out yet you need the end goal of that activity. Compare that to what you learned about yourself during lockdown. Most of us wanted connection, not screen time. But in the end, screen time gave us more friends and even spouses. What could you gain from acquiescing to a process that you might not because you’re too busy wallowing in boredom or misery?
Look to your goal. But don’t bemoan the path. You may find the biggest gem ever hidden there. ✨
